Background:
Quality control materials, which are used for accurate and precise laboratory tests, were purchased with lyophilized control sera or fresh serum, But, the unstability and decreased enzyme activity of it occasionally followed. Therefore, in
fact,
satisfiable quality control is diffcult. We intended to evaluate of CPDA-1 anticoagulant ????plasma in blood collection hag as quality control material of clinical chemistry
Methods:
We compared serum with 3.8% sodium citrate treated plasma and citrate-phosphate-dextrose--adenine(CPDA-1) anticoagulant treated plasma to know effect of anticoagulant on clinical chemistry tests. And, we compared pooled serum with CPDA-1
anticoagulant treated plasma in order to know effect of the time from sample collection and centrifugation to cell separation on clinical chemistry tests.
Results:
Calcium, glucose, creatinine, uric acid, total cholesterol, protein, albumin, aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alanine aminotransferase(ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total bilirubin of 3.8% sodium citrate treated plasma were significantly
decreased (P<0.05) but, inorganic phosphorus, blood urea nitrogen, r-GT, direct bilirubin were not different. And, almost of chemical analytes except creatinine were changed by time from sample collection to cell separation.
Conclusions:
Quality control using CPDA-1 anticoagulant treated plasma was not safisifed for quality control materials for calcium. Phosphorus, glucose, creatinine, total bilirubin but, it was safisfied for BUN, uric acid, cholesterol, protein, albumin,
AST,
ALT, ALP, γ-GT, triglyceride, creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase, Therefore, we concluded that quality control using CPDA-1 anticoagulant treated plasma not available for clinical chemistry tests.
